1st Meltdown Finale
Written by Colby Guyer

The first Meltdown came to an end Tuesday but it certainly will not be the last!
This years Meltdown was a great success to many. 503 participants on 68 teams lost a total of 3,016.24 pounds throughout
the six-week event, which started on February 16, 2010. The team that lost the most weight during the meltdown was 4 Bikinis
& a Speedo, which lost a total of 78.6 lbs. and 8.25% of
body weight. In second place was Old Fat Broadcasters, which lost 72 lbs. and 7.95% of body weight, and in third place was Kicking
& Screaming, which lost 51 lbs. and 6.79% of body weight.
The goal of the Meltdown was to raise awareness of the need to take responsibility for ones health, learn how to become fit and have fun doing it. Each week the Meltdown had a special speaker(s) that included anything from tips on what to avoid to how to exercise properly. There were prizes of all sizes each week along with other forms of support and encouragement. At each meeting, team captains reported their teams' total weight loss for the previous week, and the top three team that lost the most weight were announced at the last few sessions with the final teams getting team t-shirts. Each team member of all teams also got a special certificate to recognize their participation in the event.
Everyone should stay tuned to the fan page for monthly updates of activities and the Rev Up coming up in October. Teams are encouraged to continue checking in with Angie Fetters, Captain of Captains for the Meltdown.
